Teams should be prepared to swim a short distance or two, PFD's will be required (see updated rules). Also, please take special note of the full gear drybag requirement if you'd like to keep you gear dry in these sections.

The Gear List is final.

The entire area within a 75 mile radius of Paoli Peaks is embargoed.

Support Crew Instructions (24-Hour Challenge Teams Only)

  • Following the start, Support Crews are to go directly to first off site TA.
  • Cmaping will be allowed at each TA location, however because some locations are very remote, crews should be prepared to be self contained (i.e. have all the water and food you need with you).
  • Additional instructions will be distributed following the start of the race.
  • Teams that are using PA as their crew:
    • Your gear will be moved for you to the TA locations.
    • You will be allowed 2 totes per team for gear/food/water, please have these packed and ready following the pre-race meeting.
    • Teams cannot contact or receive support from their crews at any location not specifically designated as a TA.

Racers should be prepared to carry PFD's throughout the entire race.

2010 Race Information

24-Hour Challenge & 36-Hour Old School Expedition

BOTH RACES will be Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series Events Checkpoint Tracker

For 2010, these races will be combined so everyone is on the same course, starting at the same time. The primary difference between the two divisions (24-hour and Old School) is that the 24-hour teams will encounter a few shorter segments and will have the opportunity to access gear drops.

24-Hour Challenge: The traditional PA24 Challenge, racers will cover 85-100 miles on foot, bike or boat. There will be access to gear and food drops on the course.

36-Hour Old School Expedition: The 2nd year of the "Old School" Expedition style course. This 36-hour course will span nearly 130 miles and require the racers to be prepared to carry all of their gear the entire race.

  • Friday, June 18:
    • Check In: Opens at 3pm on site.
    • Pre-Race Meeting: 8pm
    • Start Time: Be prepared to start any time after 9pm, Friday, June 18
  • Saturday, June 19: PA24 Awards & Cutoff TBA
  • Sunday, June 20: PA36 Awards & Cutoff TBA

Overnight Lodging

  • Basic camping will be allowed on the Paoli Peaks property, bathroom facilities are available the entire weekend (showers will not be available on site)
  • Nearby Hotels located in Paoli Indiana (5 minutes to start) or French Lick Indiana (10-15 minutes).

24-Hour Challenge

  • 4 Person Coed (Premier Division)
  • 4 Person all Male or all Female
  • 3 Person Coed (may be combined with 4 Person for CPT ranks depending on overall entires)
  • 3 or 4 Person All Male or All Female

36-Hour Old School Expedition

  • 4 Person Coed (Premier Division)
  • 4 Person all Male or all Female
  • 3 Person Coed (may be combined with 4 Person for CPT ranks depending on overall entires)
  • 3 or 4 Person All Male or All Female

Pricing:

  • 24-Hour Challenge
    • $150 per person until May 16, 2010
    • $170 per person after May 16, 2010
    • Add $30 per TEAM if you do not have a support crew
  • 36-Hour Old School Expedition
    • $165 per person until May 16, 2010
    • $185 per person after May 16, 2010
  • Note: All pricing is determined by payment date and not registration date.

Support

24-Hour Challenge Division

  • Support Crews are required in this division. If you do not have a support crew we will have an assigned volunteer to assist your team for a $30 charge per TEAM.

36-Hour "Old School" Expedition Division

  • Teams in this division will race Unsupported. No outside aid or gear drops will be allowed. However there may be opportunities for your team to return to the transition area during the race for re-supply, but expect to travel farther out of your way to do so.

    • A cash purse will be paid out to the top teams in the 4-Person Coed Divisions for both PA24 & Old School, the dollar amount will be calculated based on the total entries in the race (minimum of 25 total teams).

Note: Prizes are awarded to divisions of at least 5 teams. Divisions without the 5 team minimum may still receive prizes for 1st place or may be combined with other similar divisions for the purpose of awards.
