The October 2008 Planet Adventure
Sprint is a reschedule for the event on June 7, 2008.
This was a historic day in that a 500 year flood occured
forcing the cancellation of the race. The October race
will be about the same as the June 7. T-Shirts will
not be provided.
The Planet Adventure
Sprint Adventure Race is the ideal race for those looking
to enter the great sport of adventure racing. It packs
all the same race disciplines of the Planet Adventure
24-Hour Challenge Race into 4-6 hours of challenging
fun and teamwork. A must do race for novice adventure
athletes looking to experience adventure racing and
ideal for experienced racers looking to have fun or
prepare for a longer race.
This year's race will also
feature a beginner's division, designed for those racers
that are trying their first race! Each team member
on a beginner division team will get their own map
so they can follow along. You'll still get to do all
of the disciplines, just a little less of the more
technical ones so that you can finish the complete
course. You'll also get a discounted rate since the
course is a little shorter. We'd love to see a lot
of first time racers out there this year so get registered
now! This will be an open division, meaning that you
can race as a two or three person co-ed, all-male or
all-female team.
We look forward to seeing all of you racing in the 5th Annual Planet Adventure Sprint Race soon and please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions.

Pre-Race
Check-In: Pre-race check-in will be at the
race site on Friday, October 24, 2008 from 7:00PM
- 9:00PM. All team members must be present to sign
waivers, pick-up packet, etc. (NOTE: if you have
a team member that can't make it Friday, you can
have them sign the waiver ahead of time).
Race
Start Time: The 2008 Planet Adventure Sprint
Race will start at 9:00AM. There will be limited
race day check-in from 7:00AM - 7:30AM. Please
be on time. Pre-race briefing will start at 8:00
AM. This is very IMPORTANT! Race course details
will be given at this time, maps distributed, etc.
All racers need to start arriving to the start line
at 8:50 AM for final race instructions.
Race
cut-off: will be 5:00PM, however, we want
as many teams as possible to finish. This is our
goal and we will do our best to work and make sure
as many teams as possible cross the finish line.
Post-Race
Food: Food will be provided by Noodles and
Company.
Weather: Weather
in October is highly unpredictable and variable;
spare/backup clothing recommended. (opportunities
will arise, mid race where clothes changing is feasible).
We will have medical personal at the race; however
you're ultimately responsible for yourself and your
teammates. This is Adventure Racing (keyword ...
Adventure), so for those that are new to the sport,
you need to know and understand that it's very important
that you plan accordingly with hydration and first
aid needs until professional medical assistance or
race staff can reach you.
Gear List: Please be sure to read over the gear list and make sure you have what is required. We try to keep the gear requirements to a minimum for our 'Sprint' races, but again, make sure you have what is posted on our gear list. You do not need a headlamp.
Paddles and PFD's: We have paddles and PFD's for teams to rent if you don't have one. Please notify us if your team needs paddles. We recommend using your own, but again, we do have plenty to rent.
Volunteers: We can always use more volunteers for our races. Volunteering is a great way to get involved in Adventure Racing. Email us at volunteer@planetadventurerace.com if you can help out.
Teams/Teammates: If you need a teammate or a team, please check or post to our message board.
