- Crew is optional
and can only help in the TA areas.
- Teams must visit all course
checkpoints (CP's) in order and finish with an
accurately completed and intact passport.
- All teammates must cross
the finish line together.
- Teams must follow the course
as laid out in the course description.
- Human powered travel only.
- Teams must use the mode
of travel specified for each individual leg.
- Assistance outside of the
transition areas is not allowed. Teams may help
other teams.
- The only electronic devices
that are allowed are watches, altimeters, bike
computers and lighting systems. Illegal devices
include GPS's, radios, and night
vision goggles.
- No littering.
- PFD's must be worn at all
times while on the water or other times specified
by race staff (DQ).
- Teams must paddle from
the canoe put-in site to the take-out site. No
unauthorized portages (DQ).
- Bike helmets must be worn
at all times while riding your bike (DQ).
- Bike lights must be illuminated
when riding on asphalt roads after sunset(DQ).
Rules Subject to a Time
Penalty
- Teammates must stay within
one-hundred (100) feet of each other (1hr).
- Teams must carry all
mandatory gear as specified on the gear list
(1hr).
- Race bibs must be worn
on the outside of clothing at all times. You
may wear your pack, PFD or hydration system
on the outside of your bib (30 minutes).
- Canoes must not be dragged
on the ground (2 hr).

General Rules
- Three (3) or two (2)
team members may continue as an unranked team
if one (1) or two (2) team members drop out.
They must continue to carry all of the mandatory
team gear. Racers will not be allowed to continue
solo. They may be allowed to continue with
another team at the discretion of race staff.
- The race director reserves
the right to assess time penalties or time
bonuses as needed.
- The race director reserves
the right to change the rules or the course.
- Time penalties will be
assessed at a manned CP or TA when possible
if not a time penalty will be add to your team’s
finishing time.
- Teams or team members
that withdraw must notify race staff.
- Cut-off time(s) may be
adjusted at the discretion of the race director.
- Unannounced cut-offs may be imposed for safety reasons during the race. Teams not making a safety cut-off will be considered on an alternate course and ranked behind full course teams.
